Ladybird, who has been standing at the bar, pays for her wine and turns to leave for the night. At one of the tables, a most peculiar scene is taking place, a haughty-looking lady nodding in approval to two excited and eager knights. Something about the woman's face strikes Ladybird as oddly familiar, but not being able to place her, she just shrugs and walks to the pub door.

"The crow doth sing as sweetly as the lark,
When neither is attended..."
