*Having quietly followed Baneri, the halfling stepped out from the shadows, adjusting the cloak and weapons she had dropped, and waited while he related everything. Pondering a moment, she spoke up.*

I would say the land itself is not against magic. If the land was a nexus, that speaker in town would not have a warning against spell casting. It may be a different use of magic than most of us are used to, however. There are talking fish, after all. As for what to do, I would recommend "not stay here." Not only was the town locked down, but the townspeople seemed very nervous of strangers.

Odd as this sounds...maybe we should go back to the crossroad and...head toward the "Guaranteed Totemization." It seems to be a big threat, so...if I wanted to hide something...I would put it on the road no one would voluntarily go down. Even if we only go partway and sleep in the trees...It seems the best bet...to me.

*Nervously shifting her weight from one foot to another, the young woman ducked her head to avoid meeting anyone's eyes. Moving slightly away from the group, she scanned the road, watching for any movement in the dark.*
