I had this dilemma some time ago when my version 1 shuffle died on me (thanks to an Apple update). I finally settled on the Sansa View. http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Default.aspx?CatID=1364

It's really thin, receives FM stations, and plays video files. You also get more memory for the same price as an iPod shuffle. Most importantly it is AAC compatible. AAC is Apple's proprietary music format. Any music you download from the iTunes store or burn from a music CD will automatically get converted into an AAC format. (You can change these settings in iTunes.) Whatever MP3 player you download should definitely be able to play AAC files or you may have to spend a long time converting your current song list. It also has a nice scroll wheel.

My only gripe with the View is that it doesn't breakdown your song list alphabetically. What I mean is that if you want to play "What I've Done" by Linkin Park you have to scroll through your entire song list until you get to 'W'. Not having a screen, you're used to this with your shuffle but other versions of the iPod and Zune will let you go to your songs that start with W-Z and then choose from there. (Saves you time.) Personally, I think its a small issue and I can still navigate my entire list pretty quickly.

Good luck!
